Must have completed Behavior Specialist / ABA Therapy training and have a minimum 1+ years Behavior Therapy experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This full-time onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) role focuses on providing expert behavioral support for elementary students within a dynamic school environment in Anoka, MN. The successful candidate will collaborate with a dedicated team, including another BIS and Special Education Administrator, to foster positive student outcomes and maintain a safe, supportive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments and implement individualized positive behavior interventions and supports.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and related service providers to design and monitor behavior support plans.
- Use data-driven strategies to assess student progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
- Employ de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, use restrictive procedures in compliance with district guidelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with state and federal requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to school staff on behavior management strategies.
- Maintain a safe educational environment and ensure adherence to School Board policies and administrative protocols.
- Demonstrate flexibility and calmness in crisis situations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a BCBA, Special Education Teacher with Tier 3 or 4 license, or equivalent credentials.
- Proven experience in behavior intervention, preferably in elementary educational settings.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with school teams.
- Ability to interpret and utilize behavioral data to inform programming decisions.
- Capacity to remain composed and responsive during challenging situations.
Location and Schedule:
- Based in Anoka, MN, supporting four elementary schools.
- Contract position from January 5, 2026, through June 5, 2026.
- Monday through Friday, approximately 37.5 hours per week (typically 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM).
